Denmark passes burqa ban
The Danish Parliament today adopted a ban on wearing niqab and burqa in public
From 1 August wearing a niqab or a burqa in public will result in a fine.

The burqa ban will come into force on 1 August and triggers a DKK 1,000 fine for a first-time infringement.

Not only niqabs and burqas will be banned in public; using fake beards, masks and hats concealing the face will also be prohibited.

Exceptions to the new law include covering one’s face with a scarf during the cold winter months and wearing masks at carnival events.

It will be up to each individual police officer to decide whether a person’s face is sufficiently visible.
