As the number of visitors to the Faroe Islands continues to increase, so does the need for tourism workers.

“Our greatest challenge in the near future will be finding the right staff,” says Guðrið Højgaard, director of Visit Faroe Islands.

In particular, there will be a shortage of chefs, waiters, receptionists and cleaners, she adds.

The lack of accommodation has been a problem in the past, but new hotels are currently being built, especially in the capital region.

Højgaard says that it will be necessary to look outside of the Faroes to cover the expected shortage of tourism staff.
