Axe assault verdict expected soon
The trial against two attempted murder suspects resumed this morning at 9 when the judge informed the jury of their duties.
On 6 May last year, a young man was attacked in Tórshavn by assailants using an axe. Two suspects, males aged 21 and 23, are on trial accused of attempted murder.
In his submission, the judge summarised the case and insisted that the jury members only considered matters that had been mentioned in the courtroom and advised them to rely on common sense.
At 10:30 am, the jury went into deliberation.
There are a number of issues for the jury to deliberate, the main one being the attempted murder charges. Other issues relate to illegal drugs and various incidences of violence during and before the event in question.
At least eight out of the 12 jury members need to agree to reach a final verdict.
It is unclear when the jury will reach a verdict, but it is expected to be today.
The trial has been postponed three times due to delays in the mental examinations of the suspects.
