Grants for foreign airlines
Overseas airlines and tour operators wishing to establish direct or indirect air routes to the Faroes may now receive financial support from Vágar Airport.
A share of DKK 2 million will next year be made available to operators in countries identified by Visit Faroe Islands as key markets.
These key markets are: the Nordic countries, Germany, the UK, the Netherlands, France and the US.
The grants will only be made available to companies interested in establishing routes to and from the Faroes while also showing interest in the marketing of the Faroe Islands as a tourist destination.
A maximum grant of DKK 700,000 is available for each company. This upper limit may be waived in cases of major joint projects.
Applications for grants of DKK 50,000 or less will generally not be processed.
The application deadline for the new grants is 1 May 2019. A three-person committee appointed by Vágar Airport will process the applications. Visit Faroe Islands may be consulted if necessary.
Vágar Airport’s new marketing initiative forms part of Visit Faroe Islands’ general marketing plan.
