Municipal collaboration not a legal requirement
At last week’s meeting, Sørvágur Town Council discussed a Municipality Association enquiry regarding municipal collaboration in elderly care.
The council voted in favour of elderly care decisions being made independently by each local council in Vágar, without a legal requirement for collaboration, although collaboration should remain an option.
The local councils on the island have enjoyed a fruitful collaboration in elderly care for almost 50 years, but Sørvágur Town Council believes the time has come to remove the legal requirement for municipal collaboration in this field.
Vágar consists of two municipalities: Vága Municipality, which covers Sandavágur and Miðvágur, and Sørvágur Municipality.
