Statistics Faroe Islands has published import and export figures for August

This year has seen a five-percent increase in imports compared to last year.
Fuel made up a large part of this increase – 42 percent – as fuel imports increased from 617 million last year to 875 million this year.
Imports of raw material for fish farming have gone down significantly over the past year – 38 percent.
Our exports have gone down by 9 percent. Exports of mackerel, herring and blue whiting have decreased significantly – 37 percent, at a value of DKK 316. From DKK 850m to DKK 534m.
Salmon exports have also taken a dip this year, with 17 percent less exports, valued at DKK 443m – from DKK 2.5 bn to DKK 2.1 bn.
