The Ministry of Finance is threatening City Councillors in Vágur with a fine for neglecting their legal obligations.

The councillors are accused of not including the Marghøllin multisports hall in the council budget, which the finance ministry argues they are legally required to do.

In a letter sent to the councillors yesterday, the finance ministry says the councillors have neglected their legal duties by not including the two self-governing institutions Páls Høll (swimming hall) and Vágs Ítróttarráð (local sports council) in the council budget.

This, the ministry argues, authorises the minister to impose a fine on councillors.

Mayor Dennis Holm declines to comment on the matter.
