Lengthy jail term for stabbing with scissors
A 29-year-old man has been handed a two-year prison sentence for stabbing another man in the throat using scissors
17.01.2019 - 09:41
A Faroese man has been given a two-year unconditional jail sentence for assault and battery.
The 29-year-old man accepted the sentence despite initially denying the charges.
He is charged with stabbing a man, 56, three times with a pair of scissors on the morning of 26 August last year.
One of the stabs penetrated the victim’s throat and was life-threatening.
The penalty for this type of crime is normally 18 months. However, since the defendant has a previous conviction related to this case, the prosecution called for a two-year sentence.
The defendant was arrested shortly after the incident, which took place in a residential house in Tórshavn. He has been held in detention since then.
