Temporary day-care centre to ease shortage
A new temporary day-care centre with around 100 places will open in Hoydalar at the turn of this month.
Although Tórshavn City Council has opened 125 new day-care places in the past 18 months, there is still a significant shortage.
Three day-care centres in the capital are currently being refurbished. This work is expected to be completed in the coming months. The new temporary centre in Hoydalar will be housing some of these children until the refurbishment work is completed.
The City Council is also planning to expand two other day-care centres this year, which will add some 100 new places.
According to the City Council, Hoydalar is an ideal location for a day-care centre, with spacious rooms and beautiful scenery. An outdoor playground will also be set up in the area.
