Klaksvík to host Crown Prince’s Royal Run
June 1st this year will be a slightly unusual Saturday in Klaksvík.
The reason is that Crown Prince Frederik’s Royal Run campaign for 2019 will kick off in Klaksvík on that day.
To mark his 50th birthday last May, the Crown Prince took part in Royal Run events in five towns and cities across Denmark, with a total of 70,000 runners joining in.
Klaksvík’s mayor, Jógvan Skorheim, is delighted with the news.
“The Crown Prince and his family visited here last summer, but we had never imagined that he would return this soon,” he said.
The mayor asked the crown prince during a gala dinner at last summer’s visit if it would be possible for Klaksvík to host the Royal Run.
“I’m convinced that the great reception he received here last summer from Faroese Royal Run 2018 runners is part of the reason Klaksvík was selected as the host city.”
