Bill leaves out private operators
Føroya Handverkmeistarafelag (the Builder’s Union) is seeking clarification on why only public energy provider SEV is mentioned in the new bill on electricity safety.
The bill seeks to authorise the Electricity Commission to outsource inspection.
This is fine, according to the Builders’ Union, but it is unfortunate that SEV is mentioned as the only operator who can provide inspection services.
Private operators left out
A better wording, according to the union, would be that the Electricity Commission can authorise SEV or other energy suppliers to perform inspections.
In other countries it is common for private operators to carry out electricity inspection work, according to the Builder’s Union.
