Fishing vessels using long lines or jigging reels can now apply for private quotas in Icelandic waters

Faroese long liners and jigging boats can now apply for licences to catch a share of 5,600 tonnes of bottom fish in Icelandic waters.
A maximum total catch of 2,400 tonnes of cod and 600 tonnes of cusk is allowed. Halibut and Greenland halibut are not included in the new agreement.
No more than 20 Faroese long liners are allowed in Icelandic waters at the same time.
