Staff exodus at orphanage
Concerns are rising after 14 staff members at the so-called Unit 10, which includes Tórshavn’s orphanage and affiliated institutions, have quit in the space of six months.
A job-satisfaction survey from May last year revealed an increasing dissatisfaction with the management

This dissatisfaction became clear to Parliamentary Commissioner Sólja í Ólavsstovu, who is also responsible for child welfare, when she visited Unit 10 in March last year.
The commissioner says that a high staff turnover rarely a good thing, and it is particularly unfortunate in an institution where many of the children have experienced various degrees of parental neglect.
She is looking into the matter and hopes to find a solution as soon as possible.
