Petrol stations impose age limit on energy drinks
Doctors and dieticians have long been warning about the negative effects that energy drinks have on children and young people.
The Magn petrol station chain has now taken this advice to heart by banning sales of energy drinks to anyone aged 18 or below.
“We have been contacted by various health authorities notifying us of the health hazards of energy drinks, especially for children and youths,” says Áki Vang Poulsen, head of sales and marketing at Magn.
“Energy drinks are becoming increasingly popular with youths, and we have decided that we do not wish to contribute to this trend.”
Sales of energy drinks have been on a steady increase in recent years, and it is estimated that energy drinks sales will exceed sales of regular soft drinks in the near future.
