Steady decline in church membership
The national church is seeing a gradual decline in membership, going from 84.3 percent in 2001 to 79.1 percent in 2020

The national church currently has 41,272 members, which is 79.1 of the total Faroese population.

According to Statistics Faroe Islands, this figure has been on a steady decline in recent years, going down by almost five percent in the past 20 years.

The numbers vary greatly across the 14 parishes, from a 62-percent membership in the two parishes in Norðoyggjar to 91 percent in the Norðstreymur east parish.

Sixty-one churches, three chapels and 26 vicars are affiliated with the national church.
