The government would lose its majority in Parliament and Javnaðarflokkurin (the Social Democratic Party) would come out on top.

This is the conclusion of a public opinion poll commissioned by news website portal.fo.

Polling company spyr.fo asked 500 randomly selected voters where they would put the cross if a parliamentary election was held today.

Progress for all opposition parties

The opposition received 53 percent of the vote, which would amount to 17 seats in Parliament.

Javnaðarflokkurin received 27.1 percent of the vote, an increase of 4.9 percent on today, securing nine seats, compared to the current seven.

Framsókn (the Progress Party) had a slight increase of 1.4 percent, while Tjóðveldið (the Republican Party) had an increase of 0.1 percent.

Decline for all coalition parties

Fólkaflokkurin (the People’s Party) saw a 1.6-percent decrease and Sambandsflokkurin (the Union Party) went back one percent.

The third government party, Miðflokkurin (the Central Party), had a 1.1-percent decrease, while the other coalition party, Sjálvstýri (the Self-governing Party) went back 1.3 percent. Both of these parties would have lost one seat each to Javnaðarflokkurin.

According to portal.fo, although Sjálvstýri tends to lose its sole seat in such polls, the party has not had as this little support since spyr.fo started conducting regular public opinion polls for portal.fo in 2018. Sjálvstýri received 2.9 percent of the vote in this poll.
