Two thirds of people undergoing further education in the Faroes are women
01.07.2020 - 06:53
Out of the 938 people currently registered as further education students in the Faroe Islands, 627 are female and 311 are male.
There are even some courses which only have female students, for instance the nursing course at the University of the Faroe Islands.
In the 2010-2019 period, the bachelor course in pedagogics at the university has had between 81 percent and 97 percent female students. On the other hand, the bachelor course in IT engineering currently has more than 90 percent male students.
These figures form part of education minister Jenis av Rana’s reply to an enquiry from MP Jóhannis Joensen.
