Community support for non-Faroese speakers
Volunteers have set up a Facebook group aimed at helping people in the Faroes who do not speak the local language.
The group’s description goes as follows:
“We reach out and lend a helping hand. The aim of this page is to reach out to our brothers and sisters in the Faroe Islands who have come here from all over the world to work or settle down.
We offer comfort and support, help and advice during these difficult times due to the corona virus covid-19.
Below many people offer their assistance. They introduce themselves with name and telephone number in a language they speak. Feel free to call them.
Perhaps you are ill and need some practical help. Perhaps you worry and feel alone and just want someone to talk to. Or you need some information or advice. Just call! They will help you.
In this group you will also find information about the corona virus covid-19, official up-dates relating to the Faroe Islands as well as links to organisations and charities offering help.
Please share this page with friends and work mates or other people in need. Or if you know people who can help others, let them know. You are also more than welcome to offer your help.
Either way, please help us build this page. Feel free to use the page as you need. It is all yours.”
The group’s name is 'Corona/Help & Info for non-Faroese speakers in the Faroe Islands'.
