The National Hospital has opened a new field hospital in an effort to prevent the treatment of potential new Covid-19 patients from interfering with the rest of the hospital’s activities.

Staff from the country’s three hospitals will be involved in the daily running of the new ward.

Although no-one is currently hospitalised for Covid-19, the new ward will not be empty.

“We regularly receive people for observation of possible Covid-19 infection. These people will be housed in the new ward until their test results are ready,” says Margit Stórá, COO of the National Hospital.

“This will help further isolate possible Covid patients from other patients at the hospital, which will greatly ease the pressure on our staff.”

A DKK 5.3 million supplementary appropriation has been granted for the new ward.
