Covid-19 is in circulation in the Faroes, but the health authorities say they have the situation under control.

Five of the six people who tested positive yesterday are not linked to known chains of infection. One of these has been displaying Covid symptoms since Christmas Eve.

All six people have been isolated and contact tracing is underway.

“Although many of those who have recently tested positive for Covid cannot be traced to known chains of infection, the situation remains under control,” says chief medical officer Lars Fodgaard Møller.

The daily numbers of positive tests over the past week have been as follows: 3, 19, 4, 5, 0, 4 and 6.

Two people are currently receiving hospital treatment for Covid-19, and the latest figures show that 208 people are in quarantine.
