Nightlife reopening on Sunday
Last Thursday, nightlife establishments were ordered to close by 10pm amid fears of the highly contagious UK mutant Covid-19 strain entering the country.
But with the relatively low numbers of infections registered in the past week, there is no reason to extend the restricted opening hours beyond their original Sunday 17 January expiry date, trade minister Helgi Abrahamsen told news portal in.fo today.
When asked about the rapid spread of the UK strain in Denmark, the minister said that as long as there are no signs of any new mutant strain in the Faroes, the restrictions recently introduced in Denmark are not currently necessary here.
