After a period of irregular supply irregularities, we now appear to be one step closer to large-scale vaccinations.

Vaccine manufacturer Pfizer-BioNTech has informed Danish health authorities that the batch size will increase next week.

As the Faroes receive the same per capita allocation as Denmark, the increase will apply here too.

“Up to now, we have been receiving about 1,300 doses per week, and some weeks we haven’t received anything,” says chief pharmacist Hjalti Gunnarstein, who is responsible for vaccine imports to the Faroe Islands.

“But it looks like we will be receiving about 4,000 doses of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine on Wednesday or Thursday.”

It is not yet clear how the increased batch size will affect the national vaccination plan.
