Too many tourists in Mykines
Mykines cannot handle the ever-increasing number of tourists visiting the island.
A comprehensive development plan with concrete measures is needed for the protection of the terrain and the bird life on the popular island.

So concludes a new recommendation on making tourism in Mykines sustainable, which is the result of a collaboration between Sørvágur municipality, Visit Faroe Islands, the Environment Agency, Visit Vágar, the Faroe Marine Research Institute and the National Museum.
”The heavy tourist traffic to the popular lighthouse is one area that is particularly important to focus on, says Visit Faroe Islands’ Jóhan Pauli Helgason.
