Hand sanitiser recalled from stores
The great shortage of hand sanitisers has prompted some businesses and stores which cannot find conventional hand sanitisers to use an alternative substance.
One of these, which has been used in some Faroese stores for customers to clean their hands before and after shopping, has now been recalled.
“Nowocoat A/S has failed to produce sufficient documentation to prove that the ‘Hånddesinfektion PR. nr. 4263343’ product is an effective protection from bacteria and virus,” the Danish Environmental Protection Agency wrote in a statement.
Made by Danish coating firm Nowocoat A/S and sold in five-litre plastic containers, the product has been recalled by some Faroese stores, but it may still be used in others.
The Faroese Food and Veterinary Authority is not authorised to recall products of this type and can only make recommendations.
