No more Covid-19 support for pensioners
The short-term government work programme intended to prevent mass layoffs caused by the corona crisis will continue for another two months.
However, working pensioners will not be included in this extension of the scheme.
“This proves that our politicians have no respect for the country’s pensioners,” says Beate L. Samuelsen, chairwoman of the National Association of Pensioners, who only learned about this change yesterday evening.

“The monthly DKK 8,000 old age pension payout before taxes is not a lot of money, and many pensioners need to supplement this income by working. But many are still unable to work due to corona restrictions.”
According to Samuelsen, one of the reasons for excluding pensioners in the extended scheme is that “they are expected to return to work”.
“But why should this only apply to pensioners? This is not fair.”

The regular unemployment figure went up from 1.4 percent in March to 1.7 percent in April.
In autumn 2019, this figure was 0.9 percent.
