One new Covid case, likely to be ‘UK strain’
Yesterday’s 545 tests yielded one positive outcome.
A preliminary analysis of the positive test sample has revealed that it contained the rapid-spreading UK Covid-19 strain, known as B.1.1.7.
The infected person tested positive in a follow-up test the day after arriving in the Faroes from abroad.
According to chief medical officer Lars Fodgaard Møller, all passengers on the flight have been informed that they may have been close to a person infected with a highly contagious variant of Covid-19, and the necessary precautions have been put in place.
