The National Hospital and Klaksvík Hospital will receive new Covid vaccines tomorrow, and Suðuroy Hospital will receive its share of vaccines on Monday.

Chief pharmacist Hjalti Gunnarstein, who is responsible for vaccine imports, has received assurance of this from the Danish Serum Institute.

Earlier this week, it was uncertain whether any vaccines would arrive in the Faroes this week due to quality concerns.

These concerns have now been resolved, and 195 bottles of the Pfizer/BioNTech vaccine are due to arrive this afternoon.

No new Covid cases

It has now been confirmed that the positive test registered on Monday did contain the rapid-spreading UK Covid-19 strain.

With no positive Covid-19 tests since Monday, there are now three active cases in the country.

No-one is receiving hospital treatment for Covid-19, and 14 people are listed as being in quarantine.
