Yesterday’s 886 Covid tests resulted in seven positive cases, reports corona.fo.

All were infected in the Faroes, and all are linked to known chains of infection.

The daily numbers of positive tests over the past week have been as follows: 5, 13, 21, 17, 10, 22 and 7.

There are currently 121 active Covid-19 cases in the country. One person is receiving hospital treatment for Covid, and 482 people are listed as being in quarantine.

No further Covid restrictions in the pipeline

Prime Minister Bárður á Steig Nielsen told KvF today that there are currently no plans to introduce new Covid restrictions, despite the high number of active cases.

The Covid situation remains under control, says chief medical officer Lars Fodgaard Møller. However, he adds, recent contact tracing efforts have revealed that very few people are following the recommendation to get tested two days after arriving from abroad.

“This is a problem,” he says. “It is crucial that everyone follows this recommendation.”
