The body of an animal rights activist is found in the bloody waters after a whale killing. Journalist Hannis Martinsson investigates the murder, which sends shockwaves across the Faroese community.

This is the general plot of Faroese crime TV series TROM, based on the crime novels of Faroese author Jógvan Isaksen, to which the BBC has now acquired some of the rights, according to entertainment website Variety.

TROM is produced by REinvent Studios in collaboration with Kyk Pictures and Truenorth.

“We are thrilled and proud that the BBC has come on board TROM,” Helene Aurø, sales and marketing director at REinvent International Sales, told Variety.

“BBC has broadcast some of the best Nordic series ever produced in the past and we hope TROM will be a success as well. We are really looking forward to presenting this to the U.K. audience.”

Kringvarp Føroya will broadcast TROM on its TV station on 17 February, and all six episodes will be available on demand on kvf.fo after this date.
