Fish feed producer in Fuglafjørður is investing heavily in an air-purifying system

It is commonly said that the Eysturoy town of Fuglafjørður smells of fish. Not so, say Fuglafjørður locals – the town smells of money.

Whatever the smell, something is being done about it.

Fish feed producer Havsbrún, headquartered at the town’s port, has set aside about DKK 40 million on a project which includes a special air-purification system.

“We have signed a deal with a Norwegian firm which says it can get rid of up to 95 percent of the smell coming from our factory,” says Havsbrún CEO Odd Eliasen.

The project is expected to be completed in two years’ time.
