The Faroese population is on a steady rise, but it will be a while before it surpasses 60,000.

According to a new population forecast by Statistics Faroe Islands, the population will reach 58,374 in 2060.

Men currently outnumber women, and this trend is unlikely to change as the forecast predicts there will be 1,624 more boys and men than girls and women in 2060.

Statistic Faroe Islands’ population forecast uses a probabilistic methodology by making 10,000 forecasts based on net migration, fertility and mortality rates since 1985. The median figure from these forecasts makes up the forecasted population figure.
