Hotels almost fully booked
If you’re looking to book a hotel room this summer, you’d better be quick.
After struggling for the past couple of years, hotels, along with the rest of the tourism industry, are now bracing for a huge inflow of tourists.
Hotel managers across the country say they are expecting the busiest summer ever.

This season will be different from previous seasons for other reasons too.
“We are used to receiving bookings months – sometimes years – in advance,” says Pætur Trónd Thomsen, who manages the Hotel Hafnia consortium.
“Now, most of our bookings come at the last minute – and this seems to be the case with hotels across the country.”

The pressure is now on hotels to find staff to handle this sudden spike in demand.
“We have a shortage of specialists such as chefs, trained waiters and administrative staff,” says Hotel Føroyar’s manager Aleth Nielsen.
Hotel Runavík’s manager, Annika Due Jacobsen, says they are looking actively for workers abroad.
