Summer campaign against rape
For the seventh consecutive summer, an information campaign will be shedding light on rape

The term ‘consent’ will feature prominently across festivals and other cultural events throughout this summer.

A so-called consent team has for the past seven years been organising information campaigns about rape at events during the summer months.

This year, consent is particularly relevant as changes were recently made to the criminal law, departing from the so-called coercion-based model towards a consent-based model of rape while at the same time introducing harsher penalties for rape.

Since the start, the objective has been to shed light on the importance of consent in relation to an individual’s physical integrity.

The title for year’s campaign is “Spyr bara - sex krevur samtykki” (“Just ask – sex requires consent”).

This message will be on display at many of this summer’s cultural events as well as on social media.

The consent team consists of representatives from the Public Health Board, the police, Amnesty Føroyar and the ‘Sig frá’ project, which has its own dedicated consent website, samtykki.fo (text in Faroese only).
