Airline cancels trip to Moldova
In related news, Atlantic Airways will not be flying the Faroese national football team to Moldova for the EURO qualifier match on 24 March.
The airline usually takes the national team directly to the places they play. In this case, however, Moldova was deemed an insufficiently safe destination.
“Given the geopolitical tensions in the region, we have decided not to fly to Moldova at this time. There are also some insurance issues related to this flight,” says Atlantic CEO Jóhanna á Byrgi.
The Faroese footballers will travel with Atlantic to Denmark and will then transfer to another airline for the trip to Moldova.
