Big decline in cardiovascular deaths

The number of deaths caused by cardiovascular diseases has gone down significantly in the past two decades.
In 2021, cardiovascular diseases accounted for 42 percent of death causes. This figure has now come down to 25 percent, according to the latest figures from Statistics Faroe Islands.

Cancer accounted for 24 percent of death causes in 2000. This figure remains unchanged in the latest figures from 2021.
Other death causes made up 35 percent of the total at the start of the century. By 2021, this figure had risen to 51 percent.
