Direct flights will continue year-round. The number of weekly flights will go down to four on 1 October 2024.
“The new airline and the new customer base that comes with it will obviously have a positive effect on Vágar Airport and on the Faroese tourism industry in general,” says Vágar Airport CEO Regin I. Jakobsen.

“Icelandair flies to 15 destinations in Canada and the US, and now that Vágar Airport is being linked up with this network, it will be significantly easier for American and Canadian tourists to come here.”
When asked whether Vágar Airport has the capacity to take in another airline, Jakobsen says that the airport will cope.

“The Dash 8 Q400 has a max. capacity of 76 passengers, so the overall passenger numbers are unlikely to increase dramatically,” he says.
“But we all know that our airport terminal is too small, and this new addition certainly highlights the need for an expansion.”
