Digital daycare waiting list in Tórshavn

Tórshavn City Council today deactivated its BARN daycare registration system.
In its place comes a digital system that allows parents to register their children on a waiting list at up to four daycare centres.
Parents who are already on a waiting list retain their first choice and may then add another three daycare centres on their priority list.
Giving parents more options increases their odds of finding a vacant place at one of their four preferred daycare centres, says the City Council.

Parents will be notified in their Mínboks once a daycare place becomes vacant.
The city council is also updating its enrollment practices, with the key change being a switch from year-round to quarterly enrollment – 1 February, 1 May, 1 September and 1 November.
Parents are advised to register their children in the new system as soon as possible and ideally before 1 December.
