Less pay for new airport boss
Although Vágar Airport’s new CEO will be doing the same work as her predecessor, her monthly salary is DKK 30,000 lower.
These figures come from the Ministry of Transport after Kringvarp Føroya enquired into the details of the new CEO’s appointment.
According to the Ministry of Transport, the new airport boss has the same tasks as the previous one, noting that it is the Vágar Airport Committee that fixes the CEO’s salary.
The transport minister has repeatedly made his views clear to the airport committee that the salaries of publicly appointed managers are generally too high.
However, since the minister does not have access to documentation for CEO salaries, he is not authorised to order public limited company Vága Floghavn to review its salary policies.
“But the minister is pleased to see that his views have been met with approval in this case,” the Ministry of Finance said in its reply to Kringvarp Føroya.
The previous airport CEO, Jákup Sverri Kass, left his job in mid-November last year, and Gudny Langgaard took over the helm on 1 May this year.
Kass’ monthly salary was DKK 90,000, whereas Langgard’s is DKK 60,000.
