The first half of 2018 saw 76,300 overnight stays in hotels, which is 1,500 (2 percent) less than in the first half of 2017.

Some 31 percent of the overnight guests in Faroese hotels this year were from Denmark.

Twenty-four percent were Faroese, 20 percent from other Nordic countries and 12 percent from elsewhere in Europe.

Approximately 2,000 fewer Faroese people and 1,800 fewer Danes spent the night in Faroese hotels in the first half of 2018 compared with the first half of 2017.

Icelandic and Swedish guests represented the greatest increase in overnight guests this year, with 1,900 and 1,400 guests, respectively – an increase of 40 percent and 31 percent.

These figures do not include Airbnb stays as Statistics Faroe Islands does not have access to Airbnb information.
