The first football academy in the Faroes has been set up in Vágur, Suðuroy.

A football academy is a school in which football makes up the majority of the syllabus, although regular school subjects are also featured.

The main objective is to prepare young people for a future as professional footballers.

Fótbóltsakademi Føroya, as the academy is called, is located in Vágur’s Marghøllin multisports hall, and is intended for the age groups Under-15s to Under-21s.

The academy is a collaboration between Ítróttarháskúlin í Suðuroy (Suðuroy’s Sports College) and football club FC Suðuroy.
