New North Atlantic study programme
Faroese youths can now get a North Atlantic-themed high school education.
The high school in Kambsdalur, Eysturoy, has teamed up with its counterparts in Iceland and Greenland to set up a three-year study course that is similar in most respects to a regular high school education.
A crucial difference is that students of the new programme get to study abroad.
The first year takes place at the Gribskov high school in Denmark. The second year is split between Miðnám in Kambsdalur and Verzlonarskóla Íslands in Reykjavík, while the final year takes place at GUX Sisimiut in Greenland.
“This course will give students a broader understanding of the Nordic region, and it is a good choice for people seeking a slightly different challenge, says Páll Isholm, principal of Miðnám, Kambsdalur.
The application deadline for the programme, which starts in August 2019, is 1 March.
Six or seven places are available for Faroese students each year.
