Eysturoy golfers form new club

Most of the 15 members of the newly formed Eysturoyar Golffelag are beginners, but there is a strong interest in golf in Eysturoy, says club chairman Sølvi Reinert Hansen.

“Our first task is to find some terrain suitable for golf,” he says, adding that the area above Hústoft, southeast of the village of Lambi, might just fit the bill.

“We haven’t spoken to local farmers and other relevant authorities yet, but there are many areas here in Eysturoy that fit our initial ambition of setting up a driving range. A proper golf course is more of a long-term plan,” says Hansen.
