University preparing new law course
The Minister of Culture has approved a new law course at the University of the Faroe Islands

A large number of Faroese youths want a law degree, and now is the right time to offer law courses at the University of the Faroe Islands, says culture minister Hanna Jensen.

Members of the opposition have argued that since about 70 Faroese people are currently studying law in Denmark, there is no need for more lawyers at the moment. But Jensen stands by her decision to approve the law course:

“A law degree has great societal importance, and since the University of the Faroes has applied for approval of its planned law degree, the Ministry of Culture has decided to prioritise this ahead of other planned study programmes right now,” she says.
