Although this is only one of many required permissions, it is an important step which paves the way for further preparations, says Atlantic Airways CEO Jóhanna á Bergi.
“We are planning to introduce six weekly test flights to New York this autumn,” she says.
Six-hour flight
The airline is working on a plan which may make it possible to offer return tickets at DKK 5,000 for the six-hour flight from Vágar to Newark Airport in New York.

US aviation authorities are planning to visit Vágar Airport this summer for a final suitability assessment of the airport.
The Atlantic Airways CEO is currently in Paris promoting the airline’s Vágar-Paris route, which will launch on 1 July.
