Ferry prices to Nólsoy and Suðuroy go up

Strandfaraskip Landins needs to make budget cuts of DKK 4.7 million this year.

A temporary solution is to increase ticket prices on the Tórshavn-Nólsoy and the Tórshavn-Tvøroyri routes, to expand the company’s ship rental operations and to find savings in the bus services. These changes will come into effect on 1 July.

Hilmar Eliasen, CEO of Strandfaraskip Landsins, says that the price hike on the Nólsoy and Tvøroyri routes can be justified as these particular routes include a dispatch fee, which will now be passed on to passengers.

He adds that in order to avoid temporary measures like this, a long-term deal needs to be made with the authorities about the running of the company.
