Tórshavn’s population increased by more than a fifth yesterday morning when giant cruise liner MV Ventura arrived at the port.
The ship, which has a tonnage of 116,000 and a length of 291 metres, carried 3,030 passengers and a crew of 1,167.
Ventura is, however, not the longest ship to have docked at the Port of Tórshavn. The longest one was 294 metres.
In comparison, the largest Faroese ferry, MS Norröna, is 168 metres in length and Suðuroy ferry Smyril is 138 metres long.
