Rower qualifies for Olympics

A silver medal in the final of the World Rowing Championships single sculler event was enough for Sverri Sandberg Nielsen to qualify for the 2020 Olympic Games.

This is not only a major achievement for Faroese sports; this is the first time a Danish rower has won a medal in the World Rowing Championships.

Nielsen also competes in indoor rowing and has set a new Danish record three years in a row – in 2015, 2016 and 2017.
