Aksel V. Johannesen looks back on four rewarding, exciting and sometimes tumultuous years as prime minister
04.09.2019 - 08:50
“I would have loved to do another term as prime minister because we did not reach all the goals we had set,” says Aksel V. Johannesen, who resigned as prime minister yesterday.
“As politicians, we are aware that a lot can change after an election, so I am perfectly at ease with the situation. It’s been an exciting four years, with lots of ups and downs. I am excited for the future, whatever it will bring.”
The former prime minister may well end up in the opposition now that a centre-right government is looking increasingly likely, with Fólkaflokkurin (the People’s Party), Sambandsflokkurin (the Union Party) and Miðflokkurin (the Centre Party) trying to form a coalition.
