Never before have there been fewer smokers in the Faroes, according to a Gallup poll carried out for the Public Health Board.

The poll, which asked 531 randomly selected individuals from 23 August to 13 September, found that 19 percent of Faroese adults smoke regularly.

This is the lowest figure since the Public Health Board started compiling its annual health reports in 2002.

The difference between the sexes has also decreased – 21 percent of men smoke, while 17 percent of women smoke, according to the new poll.
