Petrol stations not given access to car database
Administrators of the subsea tunnels will soon be given official authorisation to use CCTV cameras and access the national vehicle registration database to ease the collection of toll payments.
When the bill was submitted to Parliament, the National Trade Association complained that petrol stations should also be granted this authorisation, as they experience daily occurrences of ‘filling and fleeing’.
According to the National Trade Association, each petrol station needs to enquire Akstovan, the National Vehicle Administration, per email for every instance of filling and fleeing to identify the car and its owner.
Transport minister Jørgen Niclasen agrees that it is a troublesome process for petrol stations to gain information about vehicles, but the current bill only covers subsea tunnels and fire services.
He adds, however, that the government is working on a separate CCTV and vehicle data authorisation process for petrol stations.
